This is a community online space where everyone should feel comfortable to seek and contribute knowledge and take part in thoughtful and meaningful conversation. The Admin and Moderation Team lead the conversation, adding thoughtful contributions to community discussions while also creating interesting topics of their own. They also make sure that the forums and pages are a safe place for everyone.
To keep things running smoothly, please take note of the following guidelines:
Keep it friendly. Welcome new members, share your tips or show them how to use the website. If you are a new member, make sure to introduce yourself – our community is waiting for you.
Be courteous and respectful. Appreciate that others may have an opinion different from yours.
Stay on topic. When creating a new discussion thread, give a clear topic title and put your post in the appropriate category. When contributing to an existing discussion, try to stay 'on topic'. If something new comes up within a topic that you would like to discuss, start a new thread.
Share your knowledge. Don't hold back in sharing your knowledge – it's likely someone will find it useful or interesting. When you give information or links, provide your sources.
Keep it safe. Remember that the forums are public places. Don't post personal information that you would not be comfortable sharing with a stranger.
Report abuse. A strong online community is self-governing. If you see abuse, report it to us using the ‘report post’ button on the forums.
The nitty gritty of what we won't tolerate (we might love a good debate, but this stuff, let's take it as our bottom line of what just doesn't go):
Bullying and harassment: We have zero tolerance for bullying or harassment of any kind. We take abuse, harassment, and hate speech seriously. Freedom of speech doesn't mean you get to post whatever you want—even if you do, we reserve the right to remove content that doesn't foster a welcoming environment.
Multiple accounts and throwaway emails: We like to interact with real people (sorry bots) and want to create a welcoming interactive community. We don’t allow multiple accounts per user. Using a disposable email address pretty much tells us you might not be here for the right reasons. So if you forget you password and can't remember your account name, just drop us a message and we'll sort you out. Also note, you may not create accounts designed to impersonate another person.
Cross posting: Don’t make duplicate posts across different forums — it gums things up and just breaks up the conversation.
Spam: Zero tolerance, of course! If it comes from a human or a robot, spam will be deleted. This includes self-promotion. Generally speaking, promoting your projects here will be treated like any other spam. (We have created a specific space for teachers and learning centers to advertise their classes. Please refer to the specific rules in that space before posting.) MLMs will also be deleted quicker than the ink has dried!
Doxxing: Don’t reveal someone else’s personal information.
Illegal activities: Posting links to illegal downloads, ways to steal service, and other nefarious activity is not OK here.
NSFW material: Keep it clean, we are adults here (or should be!), however, anything including pornographic material, vile language, gore and generally gross stuff is strictly a no-go.
Racism, sexism, and other discrimination: We don't do blanket statements, we also don't want self-pity. We never know a person's background or their hidden pain. Let's just say attacking entire classes of people is just like attacking a single person: let's not even go there. One strike and we're out.
Trolling: Let's keep it simple, and say conversations are here to be contributed to. If we are disrupting or distracting a conversation, basically "trolling", said comments and posts will be removed. This includes taking a thread off-topic, by the way.
Spreading misinformation: This is not a space for spreading conspiracy theories and misinformation, and such posts and comments will be removed. Always check your facts before posting.
Our moderators work hard to keep conversation here friendly, engaging, helpful, and productive. If we feel a comment or forum post is harming that endeavor, we’ll take action.
See any of the above? Please help us out by flagging any comments that make you feel uncomfortable or may go against the general guidelines!
